Section 8 Tenants vs Landlords
"Provisions Need Revisions"
Many people get the idea of "rent free" or "low rent" misunderstood when speaking in terms of the benefits of government assistance vs financial stability. In today's society there are far more non-elderly residents who are utilizing low income programs with the majority of those voucher-holders being women. With that being said, we must analyze the way we conduct our household decisions when it involves the impact of the family as a whole. In other words, we must put our morals under microscopes and observe the long-lasting effects these programs have on the community overall.
It is understood that the program itself is aimed at aiding and assisting low income households. However, the conditions in which the eligibility for those programs seem to have the exact effect on society that it fights so strongly to resolve. The issue is not the income, it is the provisions of the program that need reviewing.
QUESTION: Should landlords be required to accept section 8 and low income program tenants? What should be the rules and regulations of the lease agreement, and how long should that tenant be eligible for section 8 or other low-income programs?
